The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Senior Field Technician Drone & Field Survey Specialist to lead innovative and efficient field operations across Exploration, Resource Development, Environmental, and Legacy projects. In this critical role, you will deliver drone-based aerial surveys and GNSS operations, delivering high-precision data essential for ground disturbance reporting, topographic mapping, and reconnaissance. Your contributions will support both internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Reporting to the Manager Contracts & Logistics Support, ​ you will be on a regular 8/6 roster roaming across MinRes site operations.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Safety Management System ensuring a safety-first work culture
  • Coordinate and execute drone-based aerial surveys, including RTK setup, flight planning, and data acquisition for Exploration, Res Dev, Environmental, Hydro & Legacy projects.
  • Process raw aerial imagery and point clouds into accurate 3D models and maps using photogrammetry and GIS tools to support Exploration, Res Dev, Environmental, Hydro & Legacy documentation requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data entry, mapping, and reporting for ground disturbance and survey results, maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in technical documentation.
  • Drive innovation in field survey practices by integrating new technologies and methodologies, enhancing operational efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Utilise GNSS tools, including Trimble systems, for precise demarcation of land boundaries, heritage sites, LAP boundaries and environmentally sensitive areas that we operate near.
  • Taking a proactive risk management approach to departmental tasks.
  • Ensuring standard work procedures and safe systems of work are understood, and if not, rectify and fix in field and/or provide appropriate follow up actions
  • Ensuring personnel are adequately trained to complete work requirements
  • Attend safety/toolbox meetings and communicate expectations with a focus on continued improvement of the Health and Safety Management system and addressing concerns.

What is required?

  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) is required
  • Experience in mining / drilling / resources sector, specialising with drone-based aerial surveys.
  • ​​Experience managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment, including conflict resolution 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with senior business leaders and other technical stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work within large multi-disciplinary teams and strong stakeholder engagement ability. ​ 
  • Current WA drivers licence and Senior First Aid
