The opportunity
We are looking for an accomplished Cloud Operations Platform Lead professional to take full ownership of our AWS and Azure platforms. In this role, you will drive operational excellence, and spearhead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and cost-effective multi-cloud architectures.
You will champion automation and DevOps best practices, while collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure our cloud platform meets the evolving needs of the business. This is a unique opportunity to lead innovation and inspire a talented team on our journey to cloud maturity.
Your primary responsibilities
- Manage AWS and Azure environments, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with best practices.
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders and customers, ensuring expectations are understood and consistently met.
- Design, build, and implement highly scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions across AWS and Azure.
- Lead automation efforts, leveraging IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab).
- Establish and maintain architectural guardrails, enforce cloud security standards, and drive cost-efficient usage.
- Build observability into the platform, monitor for issues, and lead root cause analysis of complex problems in distributed systems.
- Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies, driving innovation and the adoption of DevOps, automation, monitoring, and logging solutions.
- Work closely with senior management, translating business needs into robust technical solutions that deliver value.
What is required
Our ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with an ability to engage senior stakeholders and lead teams to success.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
- Azure or AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent certifications (highly regarded).
- Extensive experience in multi-cloud architecture and cloud services within a complex corporate environment.
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis for distributed systems.
- In-depth understanding of Azure and/or AWS services, infrastructure, and industry best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab).
- Practical expertise with containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS), and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell).
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps methodologies, with a focus on monitoring, logging, and system observability.
